Braui Cup 2026

The Baarer Bier Braui Cup has been one of the absolute highlights of the season for years. On Saturday 28 March, a total of ten teams competed against each other in two groups at the 11th Braui Cup, battling it out for the coveted trophies as well as for glory and honour.

A strong performance by the Schmättervögel

The "Schmättervögel" company team, comprising Kern Studer AG, Kern AG, ERGO-line, ArtStore and Perimeter Protection, secured an excellent third place after beating Team Bossard 4–3 in the third-place play-off – also in a penalty shoot-out. Particularly pleasing: the standard of play among the Schmättervögel was noticeably higher than in previous years, which makes their well-deserved podium finish all the more impressive.

Smooth organisation despite the challenges

Due to construction work at the OYM Hall, the organising committee had to rearrange the catering area this year. However, thanks to creative solutions and the fact that no other major events were taking place, the plan went off without a hitch. In particular, the open side doors of the OYM Hall allowed spectators to move easily between the OYM Hall and the Academy Arena.

Intense matches and emotional moments

The action was intense in both halls. Despite changeable weather conditions, the teams gave it their all. The only downside was a heated incident between two teams, in which several players were on the verge of being sent off. However, thanks to a subsequent decision by the organising committee, all those involved were allowed to continue playing. Whilst such emotions are part and parcel of hockey, it should not be forgotten that the Braui Cup is a friendly tournament and thrives on fairness and respect.

From a sporting perspective, however, there were plenty of highlights. Team KPMG secured the tournament victory and brought the trophy home for the first time since 2018. In the final against the CZeCH Family, the match was only decided in a penalty shoot-out (2–1).
