Modular workstation systems for flexible assembly lines in production

ERGO-line, a division of Kern Studer AG, has developed a modular workstation system for Adolf Kühner AG that can be adapted to changing production processes at any time. This flexible solution enables the customer to carry out efficient reconfigurations themselves and creates the ideal conditions for cost-effective production.

Client background and challenges

The assembly lines at Adolf Kühner AG need to adapt flexibly to different products and manufacturing processes. The company was therefore looking for a workstation system that could be expanded, modified and configured to meet new requirements with minimal effort.

In addition to high stability, particular emphasis was placed on modularity, ease of use and the ability to independently reconfigure set-ups during product changes and supplement them with additional components. This was intended to safeguard investments in the long term and ensure the continuous optimisation of workflows.

Solution and result

ERGO-line supplied several ERGO-Basic workstation systems featuring height-adjustable table frames and a modular assembly system. The workstations were supplemented by perforated profiles, cantilevers, shelving, hanging rails and open-fronted storage bins, all of which were individually tailored to the respective production processes.

The key advantage lies in the system’s high degree of flexibility: depending on the production order, assemblies can be dismantled, reused elsewhere or supplemented with additional components at any time. All adjustments are carried out by the customer themselves, thereby minimising production downtime and enabling new requirements to be implemented quickly.

The result is a durable workstation solution that grows in line with production requirements whilst ensuring well-organised workstations, efficient material supply and ergonomic working conditions.
