Ergonomic workstations with intelligent

operator assistance

ERGO-line equipped the BEWO Cooperative in Oberburg with customised assembly and packing workstations. Height-adjustable tables, ergonomic accessories and the integration of the “Der schlaue Klaus” assistance system provide flexible and functional working conditions.

Client background and challenges

The BEWO Cooperative in Oberburg wanted to modernise its assembly and packing areas with ergonomic, adaptable workstations. The main objective was to create flexible working conditions that could accommodate different tasks and the individual needs of employees.

One of the key challenges was meeting the diverse requirements of the various work areas. In addition to standard assembly and packing tables,

certain workstations required extra storage surfaces, material supply systems and specialised ergonomic equipment. At the same time, the solutions needed to support efficient and well-organised workflows.

As the modernisation project progressed, the integration of the intelligent operator assistance system «Der schlaue Klaus» became another

important requirement. This called for specially configured workstations that combined ergonomic design with the technical integration of monitors, lighting and material supply systems.

Solution and Results

ERGO-line developed a versatile workstation concept for the BEWO

Cooperative, implemented and expanded across several project phases.

The main components were height-adjustable ERGO-Basic assembly tables in various sizes. Their continuously adjustable hand-crank mechanism allows employees to set the working height to suit their

individual needs. Depending on the application, the tables were equipped with folding side shelves, additional work surfaces or castors.

For workstations requiring more advanced material handling, a FORTE worktable with a multi-level material supply system was installed, complemented by additional shelves and folding carton holders. These features help keep materials organised and within easy reach.

Two additional electrically height-adjustable workstations were specially configured to accommodate the «Der schlaue Klaus» operator assistance system. They feature monitor and tablet mounts, tool holders, electrical connections and customised material supply solutions. This configuration provides the necessary infrastructure for integrating digital operator assistance directly into

assembly processes.

The overall workstation concept was further enhanced with 71 ergonomic work chairs, standing supports, footrests, anti-fatigue mats and task lighting.

The result is a versatile and adaptable working environment that combines ergonomic design, efficient material organisation and modern assistance technology.
