Tailor-Made Workstations for Efficient Logistics Operations

To streamline a variety of packaging and shipping processes, Kern Studer developed a comprehensive workstation concept with individually configured workstations. The solution enhances ergonomics, improves workplace organisation and supports greater process reliability throughout daily operations.

Client background and challenges

As part of an ongoing optimisation programme, several logistics and shipping areas at the Stein am Kocher facility were redesigned to support future growth and operational efficiency. Different packaging and order fulfilment processes required workstation solutions tailored to specific tasks while maintaining a consistent overall concept.

Key requirements included ergonomic working conditions, efficient material supply, organised storage of tools and packaging materials, and seamless integration of IT equipment. The workstations also needed the flexibility to accommodate varying order volumes and process requirements.

Solution and result

Working closely with Theo Förch, Kern Studer designed a modular workstation concept tailored to the individual needs of each operational area. Every workstation was configured according to the specific workflow and application requirements.

The solution included height-adjustable workstations type ERGO-Basic equipped with storage systems, material containers, drawer units, labelling solutions, monitor and keyboard supports, as well as dedicated components for packaging and shipping activities. Additional workstation structures provide clear organisation and fast access to frequently used materials.

The new workstation environment supports efficient workflows, reduces unnecessary movements and improves ergonomics for employees. At the same time, workplace organisation and process transparency have been significantly enhanced, contributing to increased productivity across logistics operations.
